You Can Crash Anyone’s iPhone Simply By Sending This Text Message

So, here’s a fun fact: For some reason, there’s a flaw in the iPhone’s operating system that will cause it to crash if someone texts you the very specific string of characters, “effective. Power لُلُصّبُلُلصّبُررً ॣ ॣh ॣ ॣ 冗,” as demonstrated in the above video. As far as I can tell, the trick won’t cause any permanent damage to an iPhone — just annoyingly turn it off and then back on again — so go nuts pranking your friends!

Right now, the only way to protect yourself from this threat is to turn off your text message notifications. Of course, the downside to that is, you’ll miss out on all those photos of guinea pigs that a friend of yours constantly sends you, so it’s up to the user to determine the risk.
