Hillary Clinton’s New Ad Features Trump Trashing Women In His Own Words

The Hillary Clinton campaign’s attack ads against Donald Trump are most effective when they simply let the Republican candidate’s own words do the talking. In the past the campaign has featured powerful messaging just by putting Trump’s vile rhetoric on display while reminding us that the nation’s children are watching, or by depicting an uncharacteristically complimentary Trump when it was convenient for him to suck up to the Clintons.

Likewise, this latest ad called “Mirrors” delves into Trump’s long and storied history of crude disrespect to women, by featuring preteen girls looking self-consciously into their own reflections while his degrading words echo. As one young girl carefully brushes her hair, it cuts away to a talking head of Trump saying, “I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers.” As others look at themselves, we hear Trump say things like, “She’s a slob. She ate like a pig,” and, “Does she have a good body? No. Does she have a fat [bleep]? Absolutely.” The spot finally cuts to black as the words appear onscreen: “Is this the president we want for our daughters?”

This is not even the first time Trump’s words about women have been used against him. Back in March, the Our Principles PAC released a minute-long video in which various women read aloud some of Trump’s more reprehensible quotes. It’s not like there’s a shortage of material to choose from.
