As Election Day fast approaches, Michael Moore grows increasingly visible on the cable news network circuit. He’s promoting his Trumpland documentary and still finds great pleasure in how Trump recently mistook him for a supporter. In this MSNBC segment, Moore visits with Chris Hayes about that subject and more, and the two men inevitably circled towards the idea of whether some men are sexist in their criticism of Hillary Clinton.
Both Hayes and Moore feel there’s some definite male privilege at work. Yet the filmmaker feels confident not only in Clinton winning the election but in some of her detractors eventually climbing “on board the train” once it’s in motion. To Moore, much of the criticism involves loosening some “muscle memory” of eons past and present. This is a simplistic argument because, of course, Hillary arrives with flaws. Not every criticism of her can be rooted in sexism, but Moore appears to feel that way. He also has some fun:
“Next Tuesday possibly, hopefully, a woman is going to lead the most powerful country on earth. In other words, the 10,000 year reign is over …. It’s a bit of an adjustment … Guys have got about a week to wrap their heads around the fact that Hillary Clinton is going to be president of the United States. And this is good for us, seriously. Guys, let women run the show. It’s going to be a lot less stress on us. They live three years longer than us. We’re going to get to live those extra three years now.”
Other than preparing for their female overlords, Moore and Hayes also discussed how Trump would possibly react in the event that he loses the general election. Moore feels that Trump has implied that he’s “essentially called for inciting riots” after results come out. This is a fair point, for Trump has already said he’s not really willing to accept results if he loses, and he plans to keep folks “in suspense” regarding his intentions. Moore believes this is something that the FBI should be far more worried about than, say, some Clinton-related emails that were found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.
