An active shooter is reported to be still on the loose in Washington after a shooting that left 5 dead at a Burlington mall. Authorities claim the shooter fled before they arrived at the scene at the Cascade Mall, releasing a blurry security image of the suspect carrying a rifle, described as a “Hispanic male wearing grey” according to the BBC:

According to police, the suspect entered the Macy’s at the Cascade mall and opened fire, killing four women and fatally wounding another man who succumbed to his wounds later. The suspect then fled towards Interstate 5, leading police to release the photo above and ask people to stay inside. Sgt. Mark Francis of the Washington State Patrol spoke with CNN Saturday morning and said that they believe the suspect did not enter a car and is on foot.

Witnesses at the scene describe it as confusion, with people rushing from the Macy’s after hearing shots and reporting the gun. Police loaded witnesses up in a bus according to KOBO reporter Ryan Yamamoto and have warned people to avoid the mall area.

The authorities also did not release any indications of a motive behind the shooting as of yet or any relationship with the victims, focusing their efforts on locating the suspect and ensuring that the rest of the mall is secure. They do not believe there are any other suspects involved.
