Salma Hayek Suggests Trump Planted A Fake Tabloid Story About Her Because She Wouldn’t Date Him

The surprisingly (if not unfortunately) detailed history of Salma Hayek and Donald Trump’s interactions took another turn during a syndicated Spanish-language radio show on Friday. The Mexican-American actress, who’s made no bones about her support for Hillary Clinton, took the Donald to task for his promise to build a wall along the Mexican border and his insistence that Mexico pay for it. Yet it was her story about the Republican nominee’s attempts to date her and a National Enquirer story that caught everyone’s attention.

According to BuzzFeed News, Hayek claimed Trump “tried to become [her boyfriend’s] friend to get my home telephone number.” He eventually obtained Hayek’s number and “would call [her] to invite [her] out” on several attempted dates. Despite the fact, as stated earlier, she was already seeing someone else at the time.

“When I told him I wouldn’t go out with him even if I didn’t have a boyfriend, [which he took as disrespectful], he called — well, he wouldn’t say he called, but someone told the National Enquirer… he wouldn’t go out with me because I was too short,” Hayek continued. If true (and Trump is likely responsible for planting lots of stories in the Enquirer), the 50-year-old actress’s latest story would fit right in with some of the less egregious accusations levied against Trump in recent weeks.

Especially since, Hayek noted, he tried to use the ensuing article to get her to go on a date with him to avoid further public shame:

“Later, he called and left me a message. ‘Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you,'” she said. “He thought that I would try to go out with him so people wouldn’t think that’s why he wouldn’t go out with me.”

Sorry Donald, but with mad dating harassment skills like these, the closest you’ll ever get to dating Hayek is staring at her Instagram feed. Which… ew.
