Ever since former Alaskan Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin officially endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday, American voters, Twitter trolls, and the Internet at large have been waiting for her next appearance. The moment quickly arrived on Wednesday when Palin took the stage at a Trump campaign event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and no one was disappointed by what followed. Especially when she insinuated that President Barack Obama was responsible for her oldest son’s recent run-in with the law, the details of which are quite disturbing.
Palin began the segment with several passive-aggressive attacks aimed at the current Commander in Chief.
“Our vets, and you, deserve a Commander-in-Chief who would respect what our forces go through, and would never leave them behind. A Commander-in-Chief who would never lie to the families of the fallen.”
However, she subsequently “[got] a little bit personal on this” and opened up about her oldest son, Track Palin’s arrest on Tuesday.
“I can talk personally about this, I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room, because my own family going through what we’re going through today with my son, a combat vet, having served in a Stryker Brigade, fighting for you all, America, in the war zone. But my son, like so many others, they come back a bit different, a bit hardened, they come back wondering if there’s that respect… and that starts from the top, it’s a shame that our military personnel have to wonder if they’re respected anymore… So when my own son is going through what he’s goes through coming back, I can certainly relate to other families, who kind of feel these ramifications of PTSD… and it makes me realize more than ever it is now or never, for the sake of America’s finest, that we have a Commander in Chief who will respect them and honor them!”
On Tuesday, when his mother delivered a nonsensical endorsement of everybody’s favorite New York real estate mogul, Track was arrested and charged with assault, domestic violence, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated in Wasilla, Alaska. Reports suggested that the 26-year-old had punched his girlfriend in the face and waved a firearm at her before threatening to use it on himself. When the police arrived, she was found hiding and crying underneath a bed.
Nothing about Track’s arrest report directly points the blame at Obama, the White House, or anyone else along the political spectrum. Nor, for that matter, did Palin name Obama during her speech on Wednesday. Yet as the video above indicates, it was nonetheless an incredibly pointed and heated series of indirect accusations. Or as journalist Ana Marie Cox, who attended the rally in Tulsa, framed it on Twitter:

Also, a reminder: The guy Palin is campaigning for, the one she says will respect and honor our troops so much more than Obama has, is the same guy who openly mocked John McCain, her 2008 presidential running mate, for being a prisoner of war during his time in the military.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said about McCain in July of last year. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
