The Noose Used To Hang Saddam Hussein Is Now Up For Sale To The Highest Bidder

In what may be the weirdest news you’ll hear today, the rope used to hang former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is now up for sale. According to the New York Post, Dr. Mowaffak Al-Rubaie, the man who led the dictator to his death and who was tortured by Hussein for his political beliefs, has put the noose used in the former ruler’s execution up for auction and the bidding war so far has been pretty intense.

A rich Israeli family, a religious group in Iran and a couple of  businessman from Kuwait have reportedly all made an offer on the morbid object with the highest bid currently sitting at $7 million. Hussein was the president of Iraq for more than 23 years before American-led forces invaded the country and overthrew the tyrant who was believed to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of his own people. A special tribunal found the dictator guilty of his crimes and ordered his execution but Al-Rubaie, being the forward-thinking man that he is, saved the noose used to hang man and is holding out for even more money than the millions that have been reportedly offered. Currently, the rope is sitting in Al-Rubaie’s living room — where it’s been for the past eight years — tied around a bust of the former ruler. (So, not creepy at all.)
