Everything old is new again.
In 2008 and 2009 — decades ago in internet years — a few people spliced together a bunch of scenes from “Twilight,” dubbed some fart noises over them, and uploaded the videos to the web. From there they went largely unnoticed, as far as I’ve been able to tell, with a couple of them garnering a few thousand views — but none of them appear to have gone full-blown viral.
But then last night someone on Tumblr dug up one such video and posted it with the note, “For the love of god please watch this.” Since then it’s registered over 8,000 Tumblr notes and reblogs. One user summed it perfectly: “This is literally the greatest thing I have ever experienced … my abs hurt so bad from laughing there are tears in my eyes. best 4 minutes you will ever endure.”
In the span of two hours last night the video was reblogged across my dashboard by five different friends, all of them people I consider to have largely refined senses of humor, so I decided to click the damn thing thinking there must be something to it, and I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever laughed harder in my life. I actually had to stop it to collect myself at one point.
Go ahead and snicker at fart humor if you want, but fart humor is funny goddammit and the faces those actors make in “Twilight” were just begging to have fart noices dubbed over them.
