A Tulsa Man Went On A Joyride In A Stolen Cop Car And Filmed The Whole Thing On Facebook Live

(Warning: Language in video may not be safe for work.)

The above video is a byproduct of many, many bad decisions after a Tulsa police officer went to grab a cup of coffee on Halloween night and left her keys in the ignition of her unlocked police car — which was probably the first bad decision, if we’re being honest. But that pales in comparison to the string of bad decisions that came next, when a 25-year-old man named John Pinney walked up and promptly drove off in the officer’s car.

Over the course of the next 40 minutes, Pinney led police on a high speed chase topping out at over 120 mph throughout Tulsa county. And if that wasn’t enough, at some point during the chase he had the wherewithal to grab the officer’s iPad and proceed to film himself in a Facebook Live video. Shortly into the nearly four minute long video, Pinney not inaccurately tells the camera, “I’m a motherf*cking retard, is what I am.” No arguments here!

Other bad decisions captured in the video include: Pinney turning on the cop car’s lights and sirens, driving with his knees (by his own admission) at high speeds to record video of his adventure, and near the end, actually pulling over and getting out of the car to record a selfie in front of it. Eventually he was caught (off camera) when he drove to his parents house.

As a result of his joyride Pinney now faces nine charges, including resisting arrest, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, false impersonation of a public officer, reckless driving, and not wearing a seat-belt. And it seems as though the trial will be pretty cut and dry, as Tulsa police sergeant Steve Stoltz later told Oklahoma’s News On 6: “I would encourage every criminal out there to Facebook Live their crimes so that we can catch you a lot easier and use that Facebook Live at your trial to get a better conviction.”

Reporter Annie Chang live tweeted the chase and subsequent arrest:

Incredibly, no one was hurt during the entire incident, and presumably Pinney will be going away for a long time over his stunt.
