Photo: Starbucks Employee Writes “Dirk” On Chandler Parsons’ Coffee

Dirk Nowitzki was Chandler Parsons’ childhood idol. Now that the towering sharpshooters are teammates on the Dallas Mavericks, then, it’s only natural that residents of Big D would confuse them from time to time. A day after Nowitzki surpassed Hakeem Olajuwon to become the NBA’s all-time leading international scorer, Parsons took to Starbucks for a coffee break and was mistaken for the future Hall-of-Famer.

What an honor for Parsons!

And as Dallas’ swingman says, this comes not only after Dirk’s milestone, but a night in which he finally got off a several-game shooting snide. Perhaps the barista took in his or her first Mavs game last night, saw a tall white guy draining three-pointers, and understandably assumed the sharpshooter was Nowitzki.

It was Parsons who knocked down five triples in Dallas’ comeback win over the Sacramento Kings, after all. How thrilled he or she must have been when “Dirk” stopped by for an afternoon caffeine break.

Kudos to Chandler for being a good sport.
