Watch Russell Westbrook Dish A Career-High 17 Dimes In Win Over Nuggets

Kevin Durant underwent a procedure yesterday to replace a screw in his surgically repaired right foot, but the 2015 All-Star MVP had problem taking over the reigns in the Thunder’s 119-94 win over the visiting Nuggets.

Russell Westbrook wants to make sure the Thunder are in good position whenever Durant gets back on the court. “Kevin wants us to win, and we’re going out and taking care of business,” he said after the game.

He certainly did his part Sunday night, and not in his usual fashion. Normally, with Durant ailing, Russ would attack the basket at every opportunity, making up for KD’s absence by taking on the bulk of OKC’s scoring load. But with two new teammates in the starting lineup — Kyle Singer in the backcourt and Enes Kanter down low — Russ went pass-happy on his way to a career-high 17 dimes.

He had 12 of those assists in the first half including 10 in the second quarter. His last one to Serge Ibaka was perfect:

Here, he doesn’t pull up for the jumper after splitting the double-team but spots Anthony Morrow open for the three.

A pass-first Russ might be even more dangerous for opponents.
