This Tony Allen Steal Will Haunt Klay Thompson’s Dreams

With a masked Mike Conley back on the court, the Memphis Grizzlies gave the Golden State Warriors a hell of a game in Oakland. His presence allowed Tony Allen to focus on doing two things — destroying Klay Thompson’s will to live, and swaggin’ out.

Klay had an off night, missing most of the few open looks he’s gotten and otherwise looking like a haunted man. He is haunted. The ghost is Tony Allen. A lot of NBA wings like to swipe at driving guards as they pass by, but only Tony lays out and grabs the ball with both hands like a wolverine. It’s the kind of mind-boggling intensity backed up with pure skill that’s earned T.A. a pair of First Team All-Defense selections. Oh, did you not remember he was First Team All-Defense?

First Team All-Defense. God bless the Grindfather.
