When the New York Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, there were a lot of rumors that Carmelo Anthony wasn’t happy with the choice, but he’s done his best to try to quell those.

In an exchange with a “fan” on Instagram after the draft, he called Porzingis a “steal,” and he was grilled about it yet again last night when the hard-hitting investigative journalists over at TMZ caught him exiting a restaurant in Los Angeles with this wife La La, along with Russell Wilson and his girlfriend Ciara.

“I really love him. I feel him. I’m gonna get with him tomorrow,” Melo says … adding that he’s planning to squeeze in a workout with Porzingis.

Most experts around the league don’t think Porzingis will be able to contribute to the team right away, which is why a lot of Knicks fans, including Michael Rapaport, were vocal with their dissent. Regardless, the Knicks and their fans have a lot to be optimistic about. If everything goes as planned, they could land both Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo in free agency this summer. That won’t transform them into instant contenders, but it should help relieve some of the scoring burden that Anthony has had to shoulder with the roster the way it’s currently assembled.
