Stephen Curry’s ties to the state of North Carolina are well documented. Of course, he went to college in the Tar Heel state, but not at one of the major programs down there – he went to Davidson. His father, Dell, spent a large portion of his NBA career in North Carolina as a member of the Charlotte Hornets from 1988-98, and even brought his son around the locker room from time to time to get airplane rides from Muggsy Bogues.

Curry is also a fan of the state’s NFL team, the Carolina Panthers. Earlier this year, Under Armour released a sneaker for Curry that featured the colors of the squad, and on Sunday, the reigning MVP was in attendance for the Panthers’ home-opener against Houston. Here’s a video of Curry banging on a drum before the game in an attempt to get the crowd fired up at Bank of America Stadium.

Before that, Curry recorded a special message for Panthers fans, saying that he was ready for the team to win, and got to meet Carolina’s star player, two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton.

The best news for Panthers fans was that Curry seemed to be a bit of a good luck charm, as the Panthers took down the Texans, 24-17.
