The 2019 WNBA All-Star Game Will Take Place In Las Vegas

The WNBA has already landed in Las Vegas, but the league is officially bringing the best of the best to Sin City next summer. WNBA president Lisa Borders announced that the league’s All-Star Game will take place in Las Vegas next year on July 27, 2019.

Borders revealed the news at a press conference before this year’s All-Star Game, which took place on Saturday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

“The WNBA is excited to bring WNBA All-Star 2019 to the Entertainment Capital of the World for the first time,” Borders said. “Las Vegas fans have enthusiastically supported the Aces in their first season and will now have the chance to see the best players in the world compete on the same court next summer.”

The move makes sense for the league for a lot of reasons. Unlike the NBA — which goes to Las Vegas for its annual Summer League but doesn’t have a yearlong presence in the city — the WNBA has a franchise in Vegas: the Aces. It’s a team led by A’Ja Wilson, who was taken first overall in the WNBA Draft earlier this year and has been so good that she earned an All-Star nod as a rookie. There’s a ton of buzz around the franchise and its young star, and both figure to be prominently on display when the league comes to town next summer.
