Allen Iverson Believes Steph Curry ‘Deserves Every Penny’ Of His Record-Setting Contract

Week 2 of the BIG3 schedule took place on Sunday in Charlotte and, as you may expect, there were plenty of highlights on and off the court. Charles Oakley took center stage in calling out Stephen Jackson (using profanity) for a couple of terrible possessions and, in general, fun was had by all.

In the aftermath of a game between 3s company and Ghost Ballers (led by Mike Bibby and Ricky Davis), the great Allen Iverson was snatched for a television interview by Michael Rappaport. While it did not include the fireworks that some on-camera interactions have and will produce surrounding the league, Iverson shed light on the new mega-contract that is set to be signed by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

Iverson’s assertion that Curry “deserves every penny” is not a new one, especially given the fact that Curry has been vastly underpaid in recent years. Still, there is always an extra hint of credibility to Iverson’s statements and that arrives doubly when he forms praise for a current player like this.

LeBron James both congratulated Curry and, later, doubled down in saying that Curry remains underpaid despite signing the biggest deal in the history of the NBA. From the sound of it, Iverson would agree with James and it was also refreshing to hear a player of his stature speak into existence the fact that the league’s players are “getting better and better” while some of his counterparts drag the current crop at any opportunity.

When Allen Iverson speaks, the basketball world listens and he’s right about Stephen Curry’s contract.
