The most shocking move of the day came right at the trade deadline buzzer. .4 seconds to be exact. Yahoo! Sports reports the Lakers have traded their longtime point guard – and one of Kobe‘s best NBA friends – Derek Fisher, as well as a first-round pick for Houston’s Jordan Hill.
Hill has some upside, and is a recent lottery pick. With the addition of Ramon Sessions earlier in the day, L.A. felt the need to trade Fisher and get something for him instead of showing him to the bench. The real fun part is now waiting to see what Kobe does…
The Lakers have tried to trade Pau Gasol for a year now. Lamar Odom was shown the door. Now Fisher is gone. Could Bryant be released for financial reasons somewhere down the line? It’s entirely possible.
