The Cavaliers Might Be Working On A Trade For George Hill

The Cleveland Cavaliers just might have the answer to their problems coming by way of Sacramento. The vehicle by which we currently get to watch LeBron James play basketball is in a bit of disarray and the team is reportedly on the market for a player or two to right the ship.

While the possibility of a trade for DeAndre Jordan still is possible, Cavs general manager Koby Altman isn’t putting all his hopes in one transaction. Yahoo’s Shams Charania reported on Friday that the Cavaliers have expressed interest in the guard and might be working out a deal.

There’s a lot of frustration in Cleveland these days, so making a move might be one way of shaking things up. But what exactly is Cleveland willing to give up for a veteran like Hill? And where would Hill fit into Cleveland’s rotation now that Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose are back?

According to Charania, league sources tell him that’s undecided as of yet, but there’s definitely interest in his services in Cleveland.

Cleveland has emerged as an interested suitor, with the Cavaliers pursuing Hill to potentially slide into a dual-guard role, starting at either backcourt position or playing as a reserve, league sources said.

Charania also pointed out that the emergence of De’Aaron Fox has limited his playing time in Sacramento, which indicates that the Kings could be willing to move on from Hill and his free agent deal.

If Hill were to be traded, it would signal an abrupt end to his very short stay in his second stint in Sacramento. The 31-year-old signed a deal with the Kings last summer after a season in Utah, and many thought he and Zach Randolph were the veterans Sacramento needed to complete a rebuild with. But the team has struggled, and Hill may not be getting what he was promised in Sacramento. Maybe moving on would be best for both parties, and Hill can do his best to fix the Cavs.
