Without Warning, CBS Replaced All Of Their College Basketball Analysts With Puppets

With a big night of college basketball on Saturday, fans who tuned in to CBS a little early hoping to get some Elite 8 analysis may have been caught off-guard to find puppets on their television. Yes, puppets.

The network pulled a bit of a fast one on their viewers prior to the Kansas-Villanova game on Saturday night, replacing their college basketball studio crew — Greg Gumbel, Clark Kellogg, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley — with their muppet counterparts. Without warning. Seriously. Like, they went to commercial with humans, and then came back with puppets.

While that’s a hilarious move, it’s also pretty cruel to anyone out there who may have pre-gamed the broadcast a little too intensely. I’d like to imagine that somewhere out there, some completely un-sober basketball fans tuned in and immediately freaked the hell out, thinking that they were hallucinating and seeing real people as muppets. Can you imagine the panic that would rush over you thinking that you might have to live the rest of your life as a human amongst muppets?

Now that would be March Madness.
