With their topsy-turvy season suddenly on the upswing, the Miami Heat need Chris Bosh more than ever. It says a lot about Erik Spoelstra, Pat Riley, and company, then, that they’re putting long-term health and safety of the 11-time All-Star before the swelling chance for on-court success.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Heat are urging Bosh to sit out the remainder of this season as he deals with the recurrence of blood clots that prematurely ended his 2014-15 campaign.

Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh is under increasing pressure from physicians and the organization to sit out the rest of the season because of the potential dangers of a recurring medical condition, league sources told The Vertical.

Bosh has a meeting planned with Heat officials, including team owner Mickey Arison and president Pat Riley, in the next 24 hours to move closer to a final determination on his status, league sources said.

The 31-year-old was pulled from All-Star festivities under suspicious circumstances as the weekend got underway. Just a few days later, it was announced that the fear of potential blood clots in his calf would sideline him indefinitely.

Bosh missed the final two months of last season after blood clots were discovered in his lungs. Though he made a successful recovery and returned to the floor with renewed vigor in 2015-16, his bout with this scary affliction obviously isn’t quite over.

We’ll keep you updated as news on this developing story becomes available. Regardless of its outcome with respect to this season, here’s hoping Bosh is eventually able to put these troubling health issues away for good.
