Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend have become regulars at the Staples Center for Los Angeles Lakers games over the last several years. They haven’t reached Jack Nicholson’s level of fandom quite yet, though, and after the stunt Teigen pulled on Sunday night, they probably never will.
If you follow Chrissy Teigen on Twitter, you already know how obsessed she is with Super Mario Odyssey, the latest installment of the iconic Mario series for the Nintendo Switch. By all accounts, Super Mario Odyssey is a wonderful masterpiece, so you can’t fault her for the obsession. In fact, she even uses her huge following as an impromptu strategy guide if she hits a roadblock somewhere.
Please someone…help me beat New Donk City on mario odyssey. I hate it. I hate it.

I'm at the top of the building with the stupid snake monster thing. Then we go down to fight and I can't kill him. My 3D aim sucks. Maybe I should take off the controller from the console and play like wii?

Teigen took her obsession to a new level on Sunday night. At some point during the Lakers’ 128-109 win over the Denver Nuggets, Teigen sent out a Twitter video of her playing Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch while sitting courtside. It’s a bold move, and some internet folks aren’t happy.

Many fans immediately pointed out the luxury of sitting courtside, only to ‘waste’ the experience doing something you could do at home. Teigen responded to that sentiment by saying, “It’s called multitasking and it’s a talent.”
I’ll take Teigen’s defense a step further and remind everyone that you cannot go to a sporting event in 2017 without seeing thousands of people staring at their smartphones all night. Does it look silly seeing footage of Teigen playing Super Mario Odyssey sitting courtside at an NBA game? Of course it does, but that’s kind of the point of her post, right? Besides, once you buy the ticket, the rest of the experience is up to you. Super Mario Odyssey is dope. If Teigen wants to play it at the Lakers game, god bless.
Besides, she didn’t just play Mario all night. She also made sure her weave was still in, put mustard on some kind of a sandwich, and made fun of her husband.
"John, is my weave still in?!"
