Craig Sager Has Been Medically Cleared To Leave The Hospital After His Fight With Cancer

For well over a year, NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager has had an on-again, off-again battle with Leukemia. Fortunately, it seems Sager’s battle with cancer can be referred to in the past tense.

According to Craig Sager Jr., the 64-year-old sideline veteran has been medically cleared and released from the hospital “for good” 18 days early. The news comes a little less than a month after Sager said he would be able to return for the 2015-16 NBA season.

Sager made his initial return to the basketball sidelines after his first battle with Leukemia last March. However, his triumphant return ended up being short-lived. Just a few weeks into his comeback, Sager announced that his cancer had returned.

For now, fingers crossed, it would appear Sager has once again won his battle. His fight with cancer has been emotional for the entire NBA. No other moment captured what Sager has meant to the league like Gregg Popovich’s heartfelt message to the sideline reporter, who was on leave, with his son standing by his side.

Here’s hoping Sager has officially beat Leukemia for the final time. Soon we’ll get to see Sager and his signature suits on the sidelines again.
