Dirk Nowitzki Explains Why He’s Already Gained 10 Pounds Since The Season Ended

Dirk Nowitzki is one of everyone’s favorite basketball players because he has a comical “whatever” approach to everything that isn’t playing the game. For 48 minutes a night 82+ times a year, Dirk is a gamer who leaves it all on the floor and really hates losing.

But outside of that, Dirk is a bit of a goofball, someone who has accomplished just about everything during his professional basketball career and never takes things too seriously. This is a good thing, because sports need people like Dirk – someone that gets paid to play a game and takes everything in stride on and off the court.

Dirk also gets that the offseason is a time to rest, relax, and have fun. We know this because he’s put on 10 pounds over the past few weeks. Why? Probably because eating and drinking things usually amount to a good time.

While he is getting up there in age – Dirk turns 38 in a few weeks – and he wants to play for another two or three years, we can’t blame Dirk for taking a month or so off and enjoying himself. Dude’s about to enter the 19th year of his NBA career and probably hasn’t really pigged out save for the offseason after the Mavs won an NBA title. If anyone deserves to take a month and eat all the peach cobbler and drink all the beer that he wants, it’s Dirk.
