There are many ways a player can get a referee to call a foul – yelling at the ref, throwing his head back to exaggerate contact, showing the ref where the opposing player supposedly hit him and several other tactics. But what Dwyane Wade does here is completely new.
Wade felt he was fouled by Kristaps Porzingis, and shouted for referee Ken Mauer to call a foul. He punctuated this decree by literally starting down Mauer, who then obliged Wade. Even after the foul was called, Wade still jawed at Mauer, which seems fairly unnecessary.
