Harrison Barnes Shows Us How Large Steph Curry’s Shadow Looms In This Hilarious Video

Being a good athlete on a team that features the league MVP is probably a weird experience. Sure, you’re an important player and have a major role in the success of your squad, but all of the eyes are on your teammate who lights the world on fire on a nightly basis.

Thanks to the Instagram account of Harrison Barnes, we got a look into the life of one of those types of athletes. Barnes is a solid player for the Golden State Warriors – his 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game are fourth and fifth on the team, respectively – but even if he plays out of his mind, everyone’s eyes are going to be on Stephen Curry. Not only is Curry the reigning league MVP, but his numbers from this year are better than his numbers from last year. Plus he has the best jersey sales of any player in the league, so obviously he’s going to get attention from everyone.

Barnes, in a delightful moment of awareness, decided to let everyone know what it’s like to play on the same team as Curry.

In this quick original video, a “fan” comes up to Barnes, says Barnes is his favorite player, and daps him up. Barnes looks as the fan is walking away, sees he’s wearing a Curry jersey, and gets a hilariously nihilistic look on his face while “Why You Always Lying” plays. As Barnes says in the caption, this is the story of his life, and probably the story of many Warriors’ players lives while they exist in the shadow of the most entertaining basketball player on the planet.
