The Basketball World Was Blown Away By Isaiah Thomas’ Herculean Performance In Game 2

That was incredible.

At one point during the fourth quarter of Boston’s Game 2 win over Washington, Isaiah Thomas decided he was done with the Wizards. So Thomas turned into the King In The Fourth as he’s done all season. Then, when the game went to overtime, the Celtics’ talisman kept up his assault on Washington’s defense.

In the end, Boston beat Washington, 129-119. Thomas had 53 points. Twenty-nine of those came in the fourth quarter and overtime – for reference, the Wizards scored 30 between the two frames. He became the seventh player to score at least 53 points in a playoff game, joining a list of six Hall of Famers. He also made this shot, which perfectly shows how locked in Thomas was, because he shot the ball after losing it in mid-air.

It was so much fun. Thomas turned into the crunch time magician that we’ve seen a few times this season. For the basketball world, all that they could do was watch and enjoy. Oh, and tweet.

When you get other NBA players going like this, you know you’re doing something special. Thomas was definitely on another level – as the NBA.com stats page’s Twitter account noted, the Celtics star became the first person to drop 53+ in a playoff game since another undersized guard who was revered for getting buckets accomplished the same feat.

When Thomas is locked in like he was on Tuesday night, he’s nothing short of spellbinding, and his fellow NBA players agreed.
