Isaiah Thomas’ Son Gave His Dad Some Excellent Advice On How To Stop John Wall

Isaiah Thomas‘ sports dad game is wildly underrated. Last year, his two sons – James and Jaiden – took over one of their dad’s postgame press conferences. It was wonderful, as the two were so much fun that they made whatever the Celtics’ guard said an afterthought.

On Tuesday, Thomas went back to one of his little dudes for an answer to a pretty tough question: How do you guard dynamic Wizards guard John Wall? Jaiden had his dad’s back, and gave him his best advice.

Isaiah, being a good journalist, decided to push Jaiden by pointing out that Wall is one of the fastest players in the NBA. He then asked what he has to do to stop Washington’s star.

“Get fast shoes and I would catch him,” Jaiden said. “I would block his dunk.”

I have not listened to every NBA press conference this year, but it’s hard to imagine that too many people have said anything better than “I would block [John Wall’s] dunk.” Then again, to some front office execs, it may be concerning that Jaiden only wants to block dunks and doesn’t seem to have a desire to do anything other than make those highlight plays. But it is also important to remember that Jaiden is toddler, so there is plenty of time to teach him the fundamentals of defense.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between Boston and Washington will take place on Tuesday night. The Celtics hold a 1-0 series lead. Unfortunately, I highly doubt that Jaiden will get the chance to block John Wall’s dunk, but maybe his old man will get the opportunity.
