People Might Hate James Harden’s New Shoes Even More Than The ‘Chef’ Curry

Back in June, Under Armour unveiled Stephen Curry’s all-white Curry 2 Lows in the “Chef” colorway, and everyone had jokes for days. Two months later, James Harden has learned the hard way that nobody is immune to getting roasted for releasing wack shoes. Harden’s first signature sneaker with Adidas is reportedly set to release in December, and SneakerWatch.com has images of an all-black colorway of the shoe that caused a bit of a stir when it hit the internet Tuesday. The jokes came fast and they were merciless.

In everyone’s defense, the shoes are pretty bad. But they’re a very different kind of bad from the Curry 2 Lows. The Currys are washed dad shoes; these Harden sneakers are basically work boots. They serve purposes, but neither are what you’d expect one of the most high-profile NBA superstars to take the court wearing, and it’s also tough to imagine anyone buying these in a store and choosing to wear them. But then again, Under Armour sold out of the Chef Currys, which are actually a perfectly fine shoe. We’ll see if Adidas has similar luck with these in a so-bad-they’re-good sort of way when they’re released at the end of the year.
