Joel Embiid Says He’s Going To ‘Pass’ On Rihanna Now That He’s An All-Star

Joel Embiid is famous for a great many things. He’s a very good basketball player, he’s the physical manifestation of a years-long process to turn the Sixers into contender, he’s a very good tweeter, and on Thursday afternoon, he became an All-Star for the first time. Not only that, but Embiid was named a starter in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game in his first appearance, which is no small feat.

This set off a chain of events, all regarding a bunch of tweets that Embiid sent when he first came into the league. Namely, everyone retweeted this one.

It is widely believed that Embiid was referring to Rihanna, mostly because the big man was not shy about the fact that he had a massive crush on the superstar.

Now that he is an All-Star, everyone wants to know if Embiid is going to get in touch with Rihanna. That list of people includes TNT’s Kristen Ledlow, who asked Embiid about it after the Sixers beat Boston on Thursday night and got a wonderful response.

“She denied me back then, so why go with her again?” Embiid asked. “So I have to pass that and move on to the next one.”

It is important to stress that we don’t know for certain whether or not this is meant to be Rihanna, but this is still a delightful back-and-forth between Embiid and Ledlow.
