Kevin Durant Could Miss Game 2 Of Warriors-Blazers With A Calf Injury

Kevin Durant has played four games since returning from his MCL sprain and bone bruise in his left leg, but the Warriors star small forward might be on the shelf again for Game 2 of their series with the Blazers with another leg ailment. This time it’s a calf strain that has Durant listed as questionable for Tuesday night’s game.

Durant had 32 points and 11 rebounds in Golden State’s 121-109 win in Game 1 over the Blazers. Portland kept things close with the Warriors for much of Game 1, and if Durant is out, the fearless Trail Blazers may see it as an opportunity to steal a road win over the NBA’s top team.

Steve Kerr told the media after Tuesday’s practice that Durant didn’t participate and that there is concern that he won’t be able to go, as calf strains have a tendency to linger and there’s not much you can do about it other than rest and hope it gets to a manageable point.

Kerr also said that he wasn’t made aware of the injury until after Game 1 and wasn’t sure if Durant felt it during the game or just afterwards, and said the expectation is that Durant will be back at some point in the series. At the same time, he said the team would have to be careful with the injury and would have to evaluate him on Wednesday to determine whether he could go or not.

Complicating things further for the Warriors is that their wing depth could be stretched even more as Shaun Livingston is listed as questionable after jamming his hand while diving for a loose ball in Game 1. Durant and Livingston combined for 50 minutes played in the opening win over the Blazers, and if both are forced out, Andre Iguodala, who played 32 minutes off the bench, would be the likely replacement in the starting lineup and Matt Barnes would likely be activated to provide bench minutes.
