The Sacramento Kings Started Live Tweeting Falcons-Eagles During A Blowout Against The Clippers

The Sacramento Kings did not have their best game of the season on Saturday, so its social media team decided to focus on something that it deemed more important.

The Kings Twitter account actually started giving live updates of an NFL playoff game while their team got blown out by the Los Angeles Clippers. The account actually started live-tweeting the NFC showdown between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, the joke being that playoff football was more interesting than the 126-105 game that the Clippers won.

It started with a pretty basic joke about how the Kings performed during the game’s first half, as they trailed 64-45 at the break.

The next step, of course, is actually admitting that things are not going very well. A visual aid always helps.

Then, suddenly, the switch came. And with it, a focus on a completely different game.

I do love the commitment to the proper hashtags to make sure people following the tags noticed the account got in on the act.

Perhaps the best part was when the account briefly went back to posting about basketball, but only out of contractural obligations with a beer sponsor. And once the dust settled in their game, Sacramento provided one final update on how things went against Los Angeles.

Hey nice game, Willy. Still wasn’t enough to keep the social media manager involved, though.
