As evidenced by his “Canvas” video series with ESPN, Kobe Bryant has an artistic side that is tailored to his unique vision and mentality. Bryant’s artistic vision is influenced by a variety of different people and areas, one of which is Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. That’s right. Bryant, the man who was such a cerebral player throughout his career, loves the work of the bearded fantasy writer.
Bryant is such a huge fan of Game of Thrones that he caught up on all of the seasons of the show in an entire week. And knowing that he loves the show so much, Bryant’s wife gave the Los Angeles Lakers legend a collection of Game of Thrones books last year for Christmas, which he happily tweeted about:

The series apparently made such an impact on Bryant that he somehow met up with Martin on Thursday to learn “the art of story.”

Bryant will likely use whatever storytelling techniques he learned from Martin for his “musecage,” which all relates to his more creative side and what he uses to create videos for his “Canvas” series. What exactly Bryant picked up from Martin may never be exactly be known, but hopefully we can get a glimpse of his Game-of-Thrones-influenced creativity in his next video for ESPN.
