Every Player In The NBA Other Than Kyrie Irving Wants To Play With LeBron James

The National Basketball Players Association announced its yearly awards on Friday, and apparently everyone in the league wants to play with LeBron James except current teammate Kyrie Irving.

James won the “Player You Secretly Wish Was On Your Team” award, which, really?

That needs to be kept a secret? From whom, exactly?

I understand the compliment the players are giving LeBron here, but do you really have to keep the fact that you’d like to play with LeBron James a secret? You’d want to play with the best player in the world, maybe ever? But you can’t tell anyone, lest they learn you want to win basketball games and benefit from MVP-caliber seasons on the regular.

This officially makes Kyrie one of the few — maybe the only — players in the NBA who don’t want to play with LeBron James. Which begs two questions: 1) who did Kyrie vote for and 2) what the hell did James do to Irving to make him want out of Cleveland in the first place? There are plenty of alphas in this here Association, and most of them just voted in favor of James wearing the same uniform colors.

But I suppose there are other reasons you wouldn’t want to play with LeBron. Such as:

— You don’t need anyone to save you from drowning

— You don’t want to hear him talk about his media company and ‘pivoting to video’

— He doesn’t play for the Golden State Warriors

— You’re a big fan of a long offseason

Cavaliers teammates and even Kevin Durant say Kyrie and LeBron can figure things out and remain teammates, but if they don’t it’s clear there are plenty of players that would join the Cavaliers. As long as LeBron James is still playing there, that is.
