The End Of The UNC-Kentucky Game Was Absolutely Insane

North Carolina is moving on to the Final Four. The Tar Heels won their region after they beat Kentucky, 75-73, in one of the most entertaining games of the tournament.

The win came after a dagger by North Carolina sophomore Luke Maye, who got a wide open look from the wing and got nothing but the bottom of the net. There were 0.3 seconds left, but Kentucky was unable to tie the game with a full-court tip-in.

Maye’s shot came after a huge three by Wildcats guard Malik Monk, who was quiet for most of the game but came up huge towards the end. He hit a pair of threes that put Kentucky in a position to win, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough.

As for Maye, he’s come up huge for the Tar Heels during this tournament. Today, he threw down a career-high 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting. His previous career high came during North Carolina’s last game, a Sweet 16 victory over Butler where he had 16 points and 12 rebounds for his first career double-double.

With the win, North Carolina will move on to play Oregon in a national semifinal game that should be out of this world. Considering how last year’s season ended for the Tar Heels, odds are the team is gunning to end 2017 in a much more optimistic fashion.
