The Internet Reacted To Ray Allen’s Retirement By Remembering Jesus Shuttlesworth At His Best

When Ray Allen announced his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday via a letter to his younger self over at The Players’ Tribune, the memories came flooding in. And since the primary reason social media exists today is for public grieving purposes, the basketball world took to Twitter to reflect on his surefire Hall-of-Fame career.

There were reminders of a younger, much springier player in his prime who used to put opponents on posters on the regular.

Plus there were further reminders of an even younger Allen, a clean-cut young college player with his whole life ahead of him.

There were tributes to his inarguably-perfect shooting form…

…and a major shout-out from his spiritual successor.

Some of Allen’s former teammates recalled his career highlights and crazy work ethic.

While one former teammate gave a not-so-flattering reaction because he may or may not still be sore about Allen leaving the Celtics to join the Heat.

There was the very important request to incorporate cast members from the greatest basketball movie of all-time into Allen’s inevitable Hall of Fame induction.

Plus there was a nice little message from the man who made the Big 3 era in Boston possible in the first place, along with an official statement from that organization.

On a sadder note, there was the morose reminder that only a few faint traces remain of the once-beloved Seattle Supersonics. RIP.

To end, let’s remember the best moment of Allen’s career and, arguably, the greatest shot in NBA Finals history.

That happened back in in the 2013 Finals, but it’s just as unbelievable today as it was back then.
