Ray Allen Thinks Steph Curry Is On His Way To Being The Best Shooter Ever

Ray Allen was really good at basketball. He was one of the best jump-shooters to ever play the game and while he’s not officially retired, he hasn’t played since 2013-14. During an interview with SLAM, he was asked about this era’s greatest shooter, Steph Curry.

And as has been the case when old players talk about Curry, you could imagine Allen’s reaction. “Steph Curry isn’t better than me! I’m a better shooter than he is! If he played in my era, he wouldn’t score 10 points a game! We were were tougher! Please, someone make me feel relevant again as I tackle the realization that I am no longer the athlete I once was!”

But no! Allen was very nice and praised Curry as potentially the best shooter ever.

Based on what he’s done, I think he has to be — he’s on his way to being the best ever. … He’s creating a lane all of his own. People comparing him to me, to Reggie [Miller]. But I think Steph is in a category of his own. Just being able to have great handles the way he has with the ball, to be able to score at will by getting to the basket. Myself, Reggie Miller, Kyle Korver, Klay Thompson — we play a different game. We’re shooters. We come off screens, pindowns — Steph can do that, but he’s creating a different lane.

Good for you, Ray. Now, how do we arrange a charity HORSE game between these two?
