Rudy Gay is still a very explosive leaper. But the Sacramento Kings forward is in the midst of his 10th NBA season and quickly approaching 30-years-old. It’s fair to suggest he doesn’t jump quite as high as he once did, right?
Perhaps a failure to come to grips with that reality is why he came up so woefully short on this ambitious alley-oop attempt against the Washington Wizards. Another scenario that’s just as likely but a bit less amusing: Gay just didn’t know where he was in relation to the basket.
