The Kings’ Annual Baby Race Saw Purple Tutu Girl Get A Huge Come-From-Behind Win

There was a lot of drama at Sleep Train Arena on Sunday night, and we’re not just talking about the Sacramento Kings‘ gritty win over the visiting Toronto Raptors in which DeMarcus Cousins put up a monster 36 points and 10 rebounds and helped his team go on an 11-0 run to close out the game.

That would’ve been enough, but no. Under the stewardship of the Kings’ enigmatic owner, Vivek Ranadive, the franchise is all about value-added these days. Which is why they decided to bring back the hugely-popular annual “Baby Race,” which somehow ended up being just as exhilarating as the game itself.

During halftime, a dozen or so toddlers lined up at halfcourt for a simple “who can crawl to their parent faster” contest. From the outset, it didn’t look like it was going to be much of a contest, as the baby with the white bow in her hair exploded out of the gates to what initially looked like an insurmountable lead. But just when you thought it was over, the girl in the purple tutu came out of nowhere for the huge comeback victory. Don’t let the getup fool you. That kid has the heart of a champion.
