The San Antonio Spurs Are Wearing Special Socks To Honor Tim Duncan

If you’re going to honor Tim Duncan with a special article of clothing, there’s nothing better than a special pair of Timmy D socks, right? The San Antonio Spurs apparently agreed, and for Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, the team decided to give their players some special footwear.

The socks are pretty simple, as they are the team’s colors. The Duncan aspect came in the form of his number being on them. Of course, Sunday’s game is special because the Spurs will retire Duncan’s number once the game ends.

To the surprise of no one, the Spurs’ players are loving their socks. Pau Gasol never played with Duncan, but he’s rocking them with pride on Sunday.

And of course, two dudes who played with Duncan for years were excited to throw these socks on. Both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili tweeted pictures of the socks out before they played.

Duncan’s number is going to be all over the place on Sunday – that kind of thing happens when the best player in the history of an organization is getting his number retired. While it’ll show up in a lot of places, the two most notable are in the rafters after the game and on the ankles of the Spurs.’
