Spike’s Lip Sync Battle consistently answers the question, “What would it look like if celebrities moved their lips around during popular songs while LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen laughed at them?” This show is not to be confused with that karaoke car thing James Corden does or the singing stuff that Jimmy Fallon always has going on.
Studies show 88 percent of comedy today is just super famous people singing or lip-synching, so it’s easy to get confused.
On this Thursday’s Lip Sync Battle, retired basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal uses Michael Sembello’s “Maniac” from the movie Flashdance. Shaq dons the Jennifer Beals leg warmers and dances around. I don’t know if the celebrities who appear on Lip Sync Battle get paid, but if they do, someone needs to ask Shaq why he needs money this desperately.
This obviously doesn’t show the entire clip, but if this features Shaq straddling a chair and being doused with water, his chest glistening with sweat, then maybe it’s all worth it. Because this sweating could lead to dry skin and would then allow to Shaq to mention that Gold Bond medicated powder he sells.
