ESPN Reporter Shelley Smith Is Doing Well After A Stroke Scare At Warriors-Spurs

After the Warriors’ comeback win over the Spurs in Game 1 in Oakland, ESPN reporter Shelley Smith suffered a medical scare in the Golden State locker room that forced her to be taken to the hospital and evaluated further. Smith was taken to East Bay hospital for stroke symptoms and will have more tests run on Monday.

Smith told the Associated Press on Sunday night “I’m good” via text message and relayed that same message to Twitter on Monday morning after a picture tweeted out by Ramona Shelburne of Smith smiling and giving a hug to Arash Markazi.

Smith was attended to at Oracle Arena by the Warriors training staff, to which Warriors PR director Dan Martinez referred to as “heroes” on Twitter.

The stroke scare will hopefully be nothing more for Smith, a breast cancer survivor who battled back to return to her post as one of ESPN’s top on-air reporters in 2015. Smith works out of Los Angeles, but is a regular for ESPN at major events on the West Coast from college football games to NBA games and anything else in between. We send our best wishes to Smith for a speedy and full recovery from her stroke scare and hope to see her back on air soon.
