Steph Curry’s Dream 3PT Contest Field: His Dad, Larry Bird, And Reggie Miller

We’re already on record as believing that this year’s Three-Point Shootout field is the best ever assembled. Does that mean it tops any theoretical combination of sharpshooters in history? Not quite, as evidenced by Steph Curry’s dream three-point contest competition.

In an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report, the Golden State Warriors superstar names his father, Dell, Larry Bird, and Reggie Miller as his all-time choices in a shootout for the ages. The pertinent talk begins at the 2:40 mark of the video below:

Not a bad list. As much as we loved watching Dell Curry growing up and knocking down trey after trey while playing as him in NBA Jam, though, he wouldn’t make the cut for our dream Shootout field.

Bird and Miller are obvious choices here – the former won the first three All-Star contests, and latter is an all-time marksmen with a flair for the moment despite never winning an event of his own. Who replaces the elder Curry for us, then? Ray Allen. Can you really do much better than the league’s all-time leader in made three-pointers?

Steph. Bird. Miller. Allen. With apologies to Kyle Korver, Steve Kerr, and many others, there’s a case to be made that those are the four best shooters in NBA history. Watching them duke it out in a three-point competition would be nothing short of epic.

And while we’ll never get that chance, this year’s contest at All-Star Weekend is certainly a pretty good alternative.
