Steve Kerr Tweeted, Then Deleted, Criticism Of James Harden And NBA Officials

Steve Kerr is an avid Twitter user and a smart man. But he might have gotten ahead of himself with a now-deleted criticism of James Harden and NBA officials.

Kerr replied to a tweet that showed video of a James Harden three from Thursday night with a note that seemed to imply he thought Harden — who jump-stopped before he shot the three — actually traveled on the play.

It’s a bit iffy for sure, but the Golden State Warriors coach felt like it was an obvious travel. And he tweeted as much in a post that was quickly taken down after it went up.

Calling the no-call an “embarrassment” is a pretty big statement, which might be why it didn’t last very long on Twitter.

Perhaps Kerr didn’t want to get fined, as he seems particularly worried about that kind of thing this week. Or maybe he doesn’t want to be seen as critical of Harden, the likely MVP of this season and arguably the biggest threat to Golden State’s hopes of another trip to the NBA Finals.

At practice on Friday, Kerr explained what happened: it was meant to be a direct message.

Whatever the case, the tweet is gone now. But the internet never forgets, and it’s clear Kerr is also on the long list of people who think the game is suddenly being called differently this season.
