Steve Kerr Joked That The Warriors Wouldn’t Get Over Losing To Utah In Game 81

The Warriors lost to the Jazz 105-99 on Monday night, ending their 14-game winning streak as no Golden State player was on the court for more than 32 minutes (Kevin Durant, who was the only player over 30 minutes). The Warriors want to work Durant back into the lineup but also remain fresh for the upcoming start of the playoffs, so the end result of the game wasn’t of real concern to Golden State, which has already locked up the top seed in the West.

Some would say the Warriors are a cocky team, while others would simply point out they are just very aware of just how good they really are and are fully capable of backing up their collective attitude. That even spreads to the media that covers the team regularly, and after Monday night’s loss ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss had some fun with Steve Kerr, jokingly asking if the Warriors could ever recover from such a “brutal loss.”

Kerr played along in a very funny, light-hearted moment.

“Yeah, it’s gonna take some time,” Kerr quipped. “Maybe a summer. Try to get away for a little bit. Somehow, someway try to regroup.”

For anyone concerned last year that the Warriors would have tightened up and placed too much pressure on themselves this season after the disappointment of the 2016 Finals, that has clearly not been the case this year. The approach of the Warriors has changed as far as the premium they’ve placed on being ready for the playoffs compared to wanting to dominate every regular season game, but their demeanor on and off the court hasn’t changed a bit.

And Kerr is just as deadpan and funny as ever.
