Wizards Fans Celebrated During A Loss Because They Won Free Chick-Fil-A Sandwiches

It’s amazing how people react to the words “free food.” In most circumstances, a person’s bad mood goes away once they find out they get something to eat for free, no matter how crappy their day has been up to that point.

An example of this came on Saturday night during Washington’s game against San Antonio. The Wizards fell to the Spurs, 112-100, and the loss knocked D.C.’s team to 5-10 on the season. During a game like this, fans need something to get themselves fired up. They managed to do this late in the game, thanks to the fine folks at Chick-fil-A.

The Wizards have a promotion where fans in attendance during a home game get chicken sandwiches when an opponent misses two straight free throws. Spurs guard Dejounte Murray did just that late in the fourth quarter when the game was already in hand for San Antonio, sending the crowd into a frenzy despite the loss. Even the announcer on TV realized that this rules, because he celebrated fans getting chicken sandwiches like someone hit a buzzer beater.

This is probably the sort of thing that would upset some of the more hardcore fans who live and die with the result of every game. Our advice to them is to not be too upset, and if they are, just chill out and head to your local Chick-fil-A. No reason to waste an opportunity to get free food.
