We Reminisce: Michael Jordan Wins The 1996 NBA MVP

On this day in 1996, Michael Jordan was named the NBA’s MVP, capping off a regular season that saw Chicago win 72 games and MJ be named the All-Star Game MVP. He went on to win the Finals MVP while Phil Jackson won Coach of the Year and Toni Kukoc was the Sixth Man of the Year. For the year, Jordan averaged 30.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Jordan earned 109 of the 113 first-place votes. The other votes? Two went to Penny Hardaway while Karl Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon got one each.

Was that the best NBA team ever?
