Monty Williams’ Wife Has Died From Injuries Sustained In A Car Crash

Sadly, there is sobering news coming out of Oklahoma City. According to a statement from the Thunder organization, Ingrid Williams, the wife of assistant Monty Williams, died in a car crash.

The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid’s passing. Words cannot adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty’s wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers.

The Oklahoman reported earlier Wednesday that Mrs. Williams, 44, was being “treated for life-threatening injuries” for a crash that occurred Tuesday. Another woman involved in the accident was also killed, along with her dog. The crash occurred on South Western Avenue and is described as a head-on collision.

Monty Williams is in his first season as an assistant for the Thunder and head coach Billy Donovan. Previously, Williams spent the last five years as the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans and amassed a record of 173-221.

Obviously, our hearts and prayers go out to the Williams family during this unimaginably difficult time.
