On Wednesday, a rumor started circulating that Conor McGregor might be making a cameo appearance on the wildly popular TV show Game of Thrones. The source, though, wasn’t exactly stellar. It was an Irish tabloid newspaper called Sunday Life, and bending the truth has never been a problem with outlets like this. We knew from more reputable sources that there was a general offer from showrunners and UFC fans David Benioff and Dan Weiss for Conor to appear, but last we knew, nothing was set in stone.

Now we can confirm: Conor McGregor will indeed be making the trip to Westeros and should show up during the seventh season of Game of Thrones. UFC president Dana White himself confirmed the news.

“I did hear that. I knew a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. I’m glad he did it,” White said on FOX Sports Live. “It will be great. The show is huge. It’s awesome, and I’m excited for him.”

There’s no word on how big of a part McGregor will get. Cameos in the past have largely involved musicians the Game of Thrones showrunners have been fans of. But recently a Canadian kid picked for his impressions of Game of Thrones cast members not only got a speaking part, he got to be decapitated by The Hound. So it’s completely within the realm of possibility that McGregor may get a role that involves more than looking grim and bearded.
