Eddie Redmayne Is A Pretty Girl In His Next Oscar Role, Playing Transgender Artist Lili Elbe

It seems not even winning an Oscar for playing permanently-smiling ALS-afflicted physicist could slake Eddie Redmayne’s thirst for PRESTIGE, and now he’s starring in The Danish Girl, playing transgender artist Lili Elbe, an artist who had sexual reassignment surgery in the early 1930s, one of the first known sex changes.

I bet he was so excited when he heard he got this role.

This will be Redmayne’s second collaboration with director Tom Hooper, for whom Redmayne played the singing, crying, love-sick, wounded, and ultimately redeemed French revolutionary, Marius, in Les Miserables. My sources tell me it’s all part of Eddie Redmayne’s plan to win “Most Dramatic” at his drama school reunion.

“There are many people who have written Ph.D’s on Lili’s story,” Redmayne said. “Even though it is period and under completely different circumstances than today, I’m meeting many women from the trans community and hearing their experiences.”

This includes trans woman who transitioned back in the 1950s and 1960s.

“I have put on dresses and wigs and makeup,” Redmayne said. “I’m beginning to embark on that and trying to find out who she is.” [EOnline]

I like to imagine Eddie Redmayne staring at himself in the mirror while he puts on make-up, asking “Would you Oscar me? I’d Oscar me. HARD.”

Who knows what method acting rigors Redmayne will subject himself to this time around??? So dedicated. So brave.
