The only thing I wish Alison Brie would play more than a recovering sex addict is a relapsing sex addict, so IFC’s Sleeping With Other People seems right up my alley. It’s a rom-com with a twist: rather than the usual [HOT ACTOR] and [HOT ACTRESS] Trying to F*ck (as Patton Oswalt described rom-coms), this time, Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie (playing recovering sex addicts) are trying not to f*ck. Though naturally, they’ll probably end up f*cking.
It’s probably a good idea that Alison Brie kept Natasha Lyonne around, because nothing is a surer arousal killer for me than Natasha Lyonne’s voice. She sounds like she emits sound by grinding her teeth together like a cricket. Anyway, it’s doubtful the film, directed by Leslye Headland, who sounds like a Game of Thrones character, will be the first rom-com to finally show the dongs going in. Still, the trailer ended with a gratuitous anal sex joke and there promises to be lots of Alison Brie in a bra. It’s not dongs going in, but it’s enough.
